Location: Skill Lab, Al Najaf Teaching Hospital
Course Goals
The goal of this course is to master the minimally invasive technique of elastic nail. Participants will learn how to achieve stable internal fixation while preserving the periosteum and protecting the physis, ensuring rapid healing and early mobilization for younger patients.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define the Indications for ESIN based on patient age, weight, and fracture pattern.
- Identify Entry Points for the femur, tibia, humerus, radius and ulna, while avoiding the physis.
- Perform "C" and "S" Contouring of elastic nails to create the necessary internal tension for fracture reduction.
- Discuss Post-operative Protocols, including weight-bearing status and timing for hardware removal in pediatric cases.
Course Highlights
- Hands-on Sawbones Lab: Practice inserting titanium elastic nails (TEN) into pediatric-sized bone models.
- Safe Zone Mapping: A dedicated session reviewing cross-sectional anatomy to prevent common complications.
